Hmm...is this a technique that's been practiced for a while? As person striving to be a penciller myself in the comic book industry I'm curious. I've worked with guache before. Not watercolor yet. Just not sure if there is some information on this technique. And ink wash?
yeah some people have been doing it for a while. It's not as widespread because it does take a bit more time than traditional penciling. I'm not sure if I've seen any ink wash technique sites but there is a lot of water color technique sites including this one [link] there's really nothing to it than to do it. I kinda just figured out techniques that I was comfortable with as I went along. Learning on the job I suppose. The newer pages I'm working on now have even more values and tones to it than these first batch as I add guash and ink wash with the water color.
It's something that I think should always be considered. I understand how important text is, but I think people rely more on the visual aspect of comics, therefore it should be the focus.
